ExxonMobil has been a trusted partner in Indonesia’s energy sector for over 125 years. Starting as a kerosene marketer in Java, we now operate the Cepu Block in East Java. Our journey began in 1912 with exploration in Sumatera, and in 1968, we became one of the first PSC contractors in Aceh. Since 2005, ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL) has operated the Cepu Block, producing over 600 million barrels of crude oil. We are dedicated to developing local talent, training 110 operators from East and Central Java for the Banyu Urip oil field in 2007. These operators were trained globally and now manage the facility. Our commitment extends to downstream operations through PT ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia (PT EMLI), which entered the fuels market in 2016 and acquired PT Federal Karyatama (FKT) in 2018. We also collaborate with Pertamina on decarbonization efforts, exploring large-scale Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and developing a regional CCS Hub. ExxonMobil remains committed to supporting Indonesia’s energy needs and advancing low-carbon technologies.
